I am a woman of substance,
Let me choose the way I want to be,
I refuse your empowering over me,
I am educated and earn enough for me.
I am no more a puppet in the hands of society,
What I want to wear, let it decide to me,
I can belong to any culture or society,
I am struggling for my rights, globally.
I can be a nun by choice wearing a veil or kamilavka,
I can refuse all the pleasures and temptations,
I can surrender to God, my femininity and sexuality,
I feel proud of the kinship of my religion Christianity.
I can wear a ghoonghat a head-covering or headscarf,
From the Indian subcontinent, Hindu, Jain, and Sikh by faith,
I will cover my head, and often my body or faces,
This is the way I show my deep-rooted culture and faith.
I am a Muslim woman wearing a hijab,
It is my religious act to depict submission to Almighty,
It’s my clothing and it is my chosen identity,
It allows me to retain my morals and modesty.
I am a valiant woman it is my human right,
No matter which religion I belong to,
I will fight for my existence and liberating,
I want to live with morals and freedom of choice.
