‘Mom…..’ Mahak called out while entering in the room.
'Yes please honey…' mom replied gently.
‘I have something to ask mom….’ Mahak’s voice was a little low while saying so.
'Yes… carry on, I am listening…' mother looked at her keeping her book on the table.
‘You know… that my result is…’ Mahak left her statement incomplete and looked at her mother.
‘Yes I know your result is yet to come and you are preparing for engineering entrance exam which is also in few days, so?’ mother looked into Mahak’s eyes to know her mental state.
‘I want to ask… what if I will get good marks in my 12th std and also crack my engineering entrance with a good position?' Mahak asked confidently looking at her mother.
'That's really good, we should always stay positive. And if that happens we will go out at your favorite hangout, buy the things you like most and eat your favorite food and have lots of fun…' mother replied with full excitement.
'Mom…but this would be if my result would be a good one… and what if it would be bad and I fail to crack any competition?' now she seemed tense.
‘Mahak… if you would not do good in your exams and also fail to crack any competitive exam, even then we will go out at your favorite hangout, buy the things you like most and eat your favorite food and have lots of fun…' and mother laughed seeing the confusion in Mahak’s expression. She looked at her mother wide eyed.
‘Mahak… honey don’t be so surprised. Remember it is you who matters to us not your result…’ mom said in a calm tone.
'Mom… if that is true and my result or achievement doesn't matter much then why did you force me a whole year to do disciplined studies, sending me to school, making notes, go to coaching, sleep and waking up early, taking care of my health, avoiding social gathering, etc… why mom why?’ Mahak said in a rather annoyed tone.
‘Mahak, I did all that because it was a perfect time to divert your energies for hard work and I believe hard work never goes in vain. If by chance you will not get the desired result then it doesn't mean you are useless. It is the effort you made that is more important than the result. It should be sincere; the result is not in our hands. We value you and your efforts. We will celebrate whatever comes to us after hard work. So, stay calm and let the result come. Nothing would change for us, you are and will always be our loving daughter for us and we will celebrate all moments of life together, good or bad.
‘Love you mom’ Mahak jumped with joy.
‘Love you too Mahak…’ mom again picked up with a smile on her face and continued her reading.
Mahak too felt calm and slowly went out of the room with a huge grin on her face.
